What is he currently up to?

Zac has been keeping very busy.  He just graduated High School on June 8, 2006.  He has been tutored for much of his High School years, however he chose to graduate with his class.  He has applied to California universities UCLA and USC.  If he is accepted, he wants to attend USC (University of Southern California), because they have an excellent film program.  However, his busy schedule may prevent him from attending immediately.

Zac has completed production on the new movie, “The Derby Stallion”, which is yet unreleased.  In the movie, Zac stars as an outcast teenager who befriends a horse. The horse is a former racehorse and Zac becomes a jockey.  Zac says he now enjoys horseback riding as a result of filming the movie. 

Zac is also getting ready to start production on “High School Musical 2”, in which he will again play the talented teen Troy Bolton. The title may be changed.  Production will start in winter of 2006 with a tentative release date of summer 2007. The role is demanding because he must sing and dance as well as act.  He has many scenes and lines because he is one of the stars of the movie and appears in most scenes. Rehearsals for the musical are grueling.  There are various dance rehearsals, singing rehearsals, scene rehearsals and basketball rehearsals.  The physical activity is very high.  Zac claims he was never good at sports in real life, but he sure looks like he knows what he’s doing on the basketball court in the movie.  The director of “High School Musical” has said that there will be three total High School Musical movies. 

Although Zac is multi-talented, he wants his main focus right now to be on his acting career. He admits he likes doing musical theatre the best, however, he knows that movies will reach the most audience.  Zac is likely to take movie roles that suit his personality.    With his popularity soaring right now, he is sure to make guest appearances on other TV shows as well.  Zac is also being interviewed often for magazines and television.
