Ever since the release of the Disney TV movie, “High School Musical”, Zac Efron has become a teen idol.  He has numerous fan sites on the internet.  Teenage girls are his biggest fans.  He has had articles written about him in many of the popular teen magazines including “M”, “Twist”, “J-14” and “Teen”. Right now Zac’s fame is pretty much limited to the United States, however, it is just a matter of time before Zac’s teen idol craze takes off in the UK, too. 

Zac’s recognition started to rise when he became a regular part of the cast of Summerland, the hit WB TV show.  He said he would sometimes be recognized when he was at the mall with his friends.  One time he even had to run to the car to escape the screaming girls.  But that was nothing next to what happened next.

After the Disney Channel movie, “High School Musical” was aired; Zac almost instantly became a teen heartthrob.  The movie was so popular, it was the most requested program on the Disney Channel.  Most of his fans came from seeing him in this movie.

Popularity among teen girls is what first made the Beatles into superstars.  It continues today as well.  The multi-talented Zac seems to have everything his young fans want.  He can sing, dance and act and he has good looks, too.  Zac became an almost overnight sensation, with his picture everywhere.  The soundtrack CD from the hit movie “High School Musical” was so popular that stores could not keep it in stock.  Disney has since released another version of the hit CD.  Zac says that since the movie came out he has had to change his phone number and make it unlisted!  No doubt, when you see the amount of fans he has. 

Zac’s picture has been on the cover and inside of all the popular teen magazines.  Fans can’t seem to get enough of him!  There is now a whole special interest magazine devoted entirely to Zac Efron.  As long as his fans ask for info on him, the magazines will continue to dedicate pages to him.  In turn, this makes him even more popular. With Disney producing the sequel movie, ”High School Musical 2”, the popularity of Zac will only continue to grow.
