Zac Efron started his career singing at the age of 11,
taking parts in local musical productions.
He soon graduated to TV and had parts in many TV shows, including a
regular part as Cameron Bale in the popular WB show “Summerland”. |

Zac has also been in a number of movies.
His first movie role was a small part in the movie “Melinda’s
World”, in 2003. Next, he
played the brother in the made for TV comedy movie “The Big Wide World
of Carl Laemke”, in 2003. In
2004 Zac took on the part of an autistic boy in the Lifetime original TV
movie drama called “Miracle Run”.
Zac played the part of Steve Morgan, one of two autistic twins
who attained his goals by winning a cross-country competition with the
support of his mom. Zac was
nominated for an award for his part, the “Young Artist Award for Best
Performance in a TV Movie, Mini-series or Special -Supporting Young
Actor”. Although he did
not win, his stellar performance earned him notice. Zac earned the starring male role in the Disney TV
movie, “High School Musical”, which premiered in 2006.
In his role as Troy Bolton, the multi-talented Zac sings, dances
and acts. “High School Musical” became an instant smash hit among
teens. The popularity of
the movie has prompted a DVD version of the movie complete with extras
such as how to do some of the dances in the movie.
The movie also has produced the popular movie soundtrack,
featuring all the songs from the movie.
This is Zac’s first CD. Zac has just finished working on a new movie entitled
“The Derby Stallion”. In
it, Zac plays an outcast teenager who becomes a jockey after meeting a
former racehorse. Zac says
he now likes to ride horses because of the role.
The release date for “The Derby Stallion” has not been
announced. Production will start soon for the Disney production
“High School Musical 2” in which Zac will again star as the talented
Troy Bolton. Release of
“High School Musical 2” is set for 2007.
