Zac Efron has appeared in many shows and movies.  Zac started singing and acting in local musical productions when he was 11 years old. His first television appearance was in 2002, in an episode of “Firefly”.  He was 15 years old.  In 2003, he appeared as Pete Laemke, brother of the lead character in the TV movie, “The Big Wide World of Carl Laemke”.

Zac had small roles in 2004 on “ER” and “The Guardian” and appeared in the made for TV movie ”Miracle Run”.  In 2005, Zac had roles on the TV shows “CSI-Miami” and “Summerland”.  His recurring role as Cameron Bale on Summerland led to a permanent part and he became a regular cast member.

Then, in 2006, he appeared in the role of Troy Bolton in the Disney TV movie “High School Musical”  In the lead male role, Zac had to sing, dance and act.  The movie became an immediate smash hit and catapulted Zac into instant stardom.  The movie soundtrack is also very popular.  Zac became the first artist to debut with two songs on the Billboard Hot 100 chart the same week.  The two songs were “Gethcha Head in the Game”, a solo, and “Breaking Free”, a duet with movie co-star Vanessa Anne Hudgens.  “Breaking Free” made the fastest climb in the history of the Billboard Hot 100, going from number 86 to number 4 in one week.

Zac has a starring role as a 15-year old outcast in his new movie, “The Derby Stallion”, about a boy who becomes a jockey after befriending a former racehorse.  Since working on the movie, Zac says he now likes to horseback ride.  The movie is complete but has not been released yet.

Zac is keeping busy in 2006 with appearances on TV’s “The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” and “Heist”.  Zac plays Cody in a new Fox TV show pilot called “If You Lived Here, You’d Be Home Now”.  There is no word yet on when that will air on TV. Production will start soon for “High School Musical 2”, in which Zac will again play the lead role of Troy Bolton.
