Zac Efron has appeared in many shows and movies.
Zac started singing and acting in local musical productions when
he was 11 years old. His first television appearance was in 2002, in an
episode of “Firefly”. He
was 15 years old. In 2003,
he appeared as Pete Laemke, brother of the lead character in the TV
movie, “The Big Wide World of Carl Laemke”.
Zac had small roles in 2004 on “ER” and “The
Guardian” and appeared in the made for TV movie ”Miracle Run”. In 2005, Zac had roles on the TV shows “CSI-Miami” and
“Summerland”. His
recurring role as Cameron Bale on Summerland led to a permanent part and
he became a regular cast member. Then, in 2006, he appeared in the role of Troy Bolton
in the Disney TV movie “High School Musical”
In the lead male role, Zac had to sing, dance and act.
The movie became an immediate smash hit and catapulted Zac into
instant stardom. The movie
soundtrack is also very popular. Zac became the first artist to debut with two songs on the
Billboard Hot 100 chart the same week.
The two songs were “Gethcha Head in the Game”, a solo, and
“Breaking Free”, a duet with movie co-star Vanessa Anne Hudgens.
“Breaking Free” made the fastest climb in the history of the
Billboard Hot 100, going from number 86 to number 4 in one week. Zac has a starring role as a 15-year old outcast in his
new movie, “The Derby Stallion”, about a boy who becomes a jockey
after befriending a former racehorse.
Since working on the movie, Zac says he now likes to horseback
ride. The movie is complete
but has not been released yet. Zac is keeping busy in 2006 with appearances on TV’s
“The Suite Life of Zack and Cody” and “Heist”.
Zac plays Cody in a new Fox TV show pilot called “If You Lived
Here, You’d Be Home Now”. There
is no word yet on when that will air on TV. Production will start soon
for “High School Musical 2”, in which Zac will again play the lead
role of Troy Bolton.
