Zac Efron has been singing for as long as he can
remember. When he was
young, his mom and dad told him he sang well.
Zac wanted to pursue this, so by age 11 he started taking singing
lessons. He also took piano
lessons for a short time. His
singing lessons led him to appear in local musical productions.
His first musical was “Gypsy” when Zac was 11 years old.
He was in 90 productions of Gypsy. From there he continued his
singing by appearing in more musical productions.
His appearances included “Peter Pan”, “Mame”, “Little
Shop of Horrors” and “The Music Man”. |

Zac’s singing ability continued to improve throughout
the productions. In 2002,
Zac started taking on small television and movie acting roles. He became more well known after appearing regularly on the WB
hit TV show Summerland. Then
in 2005 Disney was casting teen actors for the new movie musical they
were about to shoot. Zac
Efron was perfect for the lead male role of Troy Bolton in “High
School Musical“. Zac was
able to showcase his singing ability along with his acting skills.
The Disney “TV movie High School Musical” was an
overwhelming success. Zac
sings some solo songs as well as some duets in the movie.
The CD “High School Musical” was released and instantly
became a chart-topper. Zac
became the first recording artist ever to debut with two charted songs
in the same week. The songs were “Getcha Head In The Game”, a solo,
and “Breaking Free”, a duet he sings with High School Musical
co-star Vanessa Anne Hudgens. At
one point, Zac had five simultaneous Billboard Hot 100 songs.
All five songs were tracks from the soundtrack of “High School
Musical”. Zac has become a teen sensation not only for his good
looks, but also for his great singing talent, as showcased in “High
School Musical”. Production
will start soon for the next Disney musical movie, “High School
Musical 2” which will again star Zac in the role of Troy Bolton.
The new musical is set to be released in 2007. |
